Owen's Hospital Stay

Time in the hospital was spent resting, relaxing and getting to know our Baby Owen.

The Day Owen Was Born

Our first family picture was taken in the Operating Room before Owen and Daddy went up to the nursery.

Owen rode in the isolette up to the nursery because the operating room was so far away - they didn't want him to get cold.

Happy Birthday Owen Michael!

Owen Michael Elhard is finally here!

He was born Saturday morning at 10:36 am at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. He is tipping the scales at 8 pounds 5 ounces and measures 21 inches!

Mom, baby, and dad are doing great.

5 Days Past our Due Date!

We had a doctors appointment today to have some tests done on Baby Boy Elhard. We had an AFI (amniotic fluid index), which is an ultrasound to measure the amniotic fluid to be sure that there is still enough surrounding the baby. That went well there is plenty of fluid! Then we had a NST (non-stress test) to be sure baby isn't stressed out - which he is not. BUT during our ultrasound we had quite the surprise...he is now head up or always has been?!?! Our doctor has been saying for the last several weeks that he was head down but the ultrasound doesn't lie. So either he was head down and flipped back around or never was head down.

So - we have a breech baby on our hands which means a C-section tomorrow morning :-( Kind of disappointing but it is what needs to be done. Before the C-Section the doctor is going to try to turn him but it is not likely that it will be successful because I am so far along and there isn't much room left. We will keep you all posted.

40 Weeks and A BIG Brown Chair!

So today is our due date...and we have no baby but we do have a big brown chair! Our rocking chair has arrived - I ordered it 4 weeks ago and they told me it would take 4-8 weeks to get delivered. I cut the timing close on this one, which isn't like me, but I had a really hard time making a decision. There are so many chairs to pick from and they are so expensive! I made a really good choice; the chair is perfect and so comfortable!

Although it is our due date it seems that the baby is going to decide when he is due not the doctor!! Mike and I just hung out and had a pretty low key day. We went out to lunch and visited some friends. We are as ready as we will ever be Baby Boy Elhard so it is finally time for you to come out and meet your parents.

38 Weeks and A Half Marathon

No - I did not run a half marathon at 38 weeks pregnant!! Mike did!! This past weekend Mike, some of my cousins and some of their friends ran in the Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon. The weather was nice and everyone ran great. Vince and I are the official support team and we were at the finish line taking pictures. After the race we had a BBQ at the Gochenaur's and had a lot of great food!! Nice job on finishing the run everyone.

Baby Boy Elhard is doing great at 38 weeks - I guess it could be anytime now :-) We will keep you posted!!
